Celebrate the groundbreaking contributions of women in the world of jazz with “Women in Jazz,” an inspiring concert spotlighting the powerful voices and compositions of female jazz artists past and present. Led by award-winning pianist Dr. Zachary Bartholomew, this performance honors the musical legacies of trailblazers like Mary Lou Williams, Geri Allen, Carla Bley, Melba Liston, Esperanza Spalding, and more. From soulful ballads to swinging hard bop and genre-pushing modern works, the program showcases the diversity, creativity, and innovation that women have brought, and continue to bring, to the jazz tradition.
In addition to these celebrated compositions, the concert will include original works inspired by the spirit and influence of these pioneering women, performed by a dynamic ensemble of top-tier jazz musicians. Prepare for an unforgettable evening that honors the artistry, resilience, and brilliance of women in jazz—a tribute to the past, a celebration of the present, and an inspiration for the future.
